Privacy
Roamaloud is built offline-first, and the privacy story follows from that: tours run on your device, your location is processed on your device, and we collect the minimum needed to sell you a city pack, keep the app working, and—only if you choose—measure which ads lead to useful app experiences. We never sell personal data and we show no third-party ads in the app.
The Roamaloud app
Location
Roamaloud uses your device’s location for exactly one thing: deciding, on the device, when you are near a place so its narration can play. If you allow background location, that same on-device triggering keeps working while your screen is off or the app is in the background — that is what makes a hands-free walking or driving tour possible. Your coordinates are not transmitted to our servers, not stored by us, not used for advertising, and not shared or sold to anyone. Ending a tour stops location use; background access is optional and the app works without it.
Purchases
City purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play together with our purchase-management provider, RevenueCat. We receive a pseudonymous purchase identifier and receipt information (product, price, currency, time) so we can unlock what you bought, restore purchases on a new device, and authorize your downloads. We do not receive your payment card details — those stay with Apple or Google.
Downloads
When you download a city or language pack, your device requests the files from our servers. Like any web request, that includes your IP address and the requested city and language. We use it to deliver the files and for short-lived operational logs, not for profiling.
Analytics and crash reports
To understand what to improve, the app records product events (for example: a download finished, a tour started, a purchase completed) with a pseudonymous identifier via PostHog, and crash and error diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack traces) via Sentry. These events never include your GPS coordinates — our crash reporting is configured to scrub anything that looks like one. None of this data is sold or used for third-party advertising.
Optional paid-acquisition measurement
After onboarding, Roamaloud asks whether you want to allow acquisition measurement. If you allow it, AppsFlyer processes pseudonymous device and app information, IP address, install and campaign attribution, and a small set of milestones such as a city-pack download, the first story proven heard, a tour completion, and checkout initiation. On iOS, access to the advertising identifier also requires Apple’s tracking permission; declining that system permission prevents its use. Roamaloud does not send GPS coordinates, names, email addresses, or the full product-analytics stream to AppsFlyer. AppsFlyer may infer a coarse city or region from the network IP address; it does not receive Roamaloud’s precise tour-location readings.
AppsFlyer may send attributed installs and those selected milestones to the advertising partners responsible for a campaign, such as Meta or Google. RevenueCat may send purchase, renewal, cancellation, and refund events to AppsFlyer so campaign value is counted once. You can turn acquisition measurement off at any time under Settings → Privacy & measurement; doing so stops future AppsFlyer collection from the app, removes the AppsFlyer link where supported, and tells RevenueCat to block future server-to-server sharing with AppsFlyer partners. Device identifiers already retained by RevenueCat or a campaign partner may remain associated with the original installation under their retention and legal obligations.
What the app does not collect
No account is required to use Roamaloud. The app does not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, messages, or browsing history. It contains no third-party ad-display SDKs, and it never uses your precise tour location for advertising or attribution.
This website
If you submit the waitlist form, we store the email address you enter, the city you are interested in, and your chosen language — so we can tell you, in your language, when that city pack is ready. Your email is used only for Roamaloud launch and availability updates. We do not sell it, and we do not share it except with the email-delivery provider needed to contact you.
Data retention and deletion
Downloaded packs, your visited-places passport, and your settings live on your device and are deleted when you delete them or uninstall the app. Purchase records persist with Apple/Google/RevenueCat as required to honor your entitlements. AppsFlyer and integrated campaign partners retain attribution records under their applicable retention settings and legal obligations. To request deletion of support, waitlist, or acquisition-measurement data, or to ask anything about this policy, contact privacy@roamaloud.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Roamaloud is a travel product for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If our data practices change, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
